For teams using Salesforce as their CRM, the Inventive Salesforce Package connects Salesforce and Inventive in both directions.

Two directions:

What you're setting up. Installing the package brings everything needed to talk to Inventive securely — the widget on your Opportunity pages, the server-side code that calls Inventive, a ready-made credential + permission set for the widget, and a pre-built OAuth connected app (External Client Application) that lets Inventive connect back into your Salesforce org.

As an admin you finish just two things:

  1. paste your Inventive Client ID / Secret so Salesforce can authenticate,
  2. assign the Inventive permission set to the users who should use the widget. No cloning required.

The packaged OAuth connected app powers the Inventive → Salesforce direction (e.g. pushing proposal/questionnaire files back into records). You enable that separately with a one-time Connect Salesforce consent in Inventive → Settings → Integrations — no secret to paste. See “Connecting Inventive to Salesforce” below.

Upgrading from an earlier version (1.4.0 or older)? Version 1.5.0 uses the package's own managed Named Credential, so an existing setup must be reconnected after upgrading:

  1. Go to Setup → Named Credentials → External Credentials → Inventive → principal Credentials, and enter your Client ID and Client Secret.
  2. Assign the packaged Inventive permission set to your widget users.

Until these two steps are done, the widget shows "External Credential Misconfigured" after the upgrade. Once it works, any Named Credential, External Credential, or permission set you cloned manually for older versions can be deleted — they are no longer needed.

Step 2: Connect your Inventive credentials (Admin)

1.5.0 — no cloning. Do just these three things:

  1. In Inventive AI Settings → Integrations, open the Salesforce card → Create Credentials → copy the Client ID and generate the Client Secret (shown once — store it securely).
  2. In Salesforce: Setup → Named Credentials → External Credentials → open the packaged Inventive → Principals → add or edit the Credentials principal (sequence number 1) → paste Client ID + Client Secret → Save (it should read Configured). These let Salesforce authenticate to Inventive server-side — the secret never touches the browser.
  3. Setup → Permission Sets → open the packaged Inventive → Manage Assignments → assign your widget users. This authorizes them to use the credential; a user without it sees “External Credential Misconfigured.” </aside>

Generating credentials

Flow 1: Inventive → Settings → Integrations → Salesforce card → Create Credentials → Generate New Secret [First time Setup]

Flow 2: Inventive → Settings → Integrations → Salesforce card → Generate New Secret [Already existing Setup]
